Bio
I bring a rich tapestry of life experience and a deep understanding of human psychology and development to my role as a psychotherapist, guiding individuals on their journey through healing. My psychotherapy practice is a culmination of my various careers, interests and passions, and my dedication to personal growth and understanding.
Over the decades, I have seen a variety of therapists from different schools of thought: Gestalt, Diamond Heart and Metaphysical Psychiatry. This gave me a deeper understanding of myself and the world, and led to my pursuing the study of Gestalt therapy. All of this provided me with insights and transformative practices that I integrate into my therapeutic approach.
Professionally, I have over 30 years of experience as an art teacher across all ages where I have honed my ability to foster creativity and empathy in diverse settings. My tenure in education instilled in me a profound appreciation for individuality and the understanding of developmental stages of human life.
Prior to my career in education, I spent 15 years working part time as a personal trainer and fitness instructor, where I developed a holistic understanding of the mind-body connection and the importance of physical well-being in overall mental health. This background complements my approach, emphasizing holistic practices that nurture both physical vitality and emotional resilience.
I also bring eight years of experience as a graphic designer, where I developed my skills in visual communication and creative problem-solving. This artistic perspective enriches my therapeutic practice, enabling me to employ creative techniques and metaphors to facilitate deeper exploration and expression.
For the past 24 years I have shared a musical journey with my husband as a singer-songwriter duo. Performing as part of a duo has taught me the intricacies of collaboration, the importance of empathetic communication, and the art of navigating complex emotional expressions. My involvment in music has informed my ability to create a collaborative, exploratory, dynamic space for my clients. My intention is to foster a strong therapeutic alliance in the creative journey of therapy.
Complementing my professional journey, I have dedicated over 30 years to studying yoga and ayurveda, embracing practices that promote mindfulness, self-awareness, and inner peace. This foundation, along with continued study of spiritual metaphysics informs my therapeutic philosophy, emphasizing a holistic approach that considers the interconnectedness and oneness of all that is.
Fun Facts: I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and I’m learning to play Djembe.
